Bacon Academy Lacrosse completed their best regular season ever with a team record 12 victories in 2017. The team is young and deep in talent, with every position fielded by players deserving of all-star recognition. Six Bobcat teammates received All-Eastern Connecticut Conference Honors last week.
Senior Captain Tony Tyler, who has played every position except Goalie in his Bacon career, won the very prestigious ECC Sportsmanship Award, recognizing not only outstanding play but also his integrity, class and dignity both on and off the field. Senior Captain Defenseman Brian Egan has been selected to the All-ECC team for three consecutive years. Brian is the third in a line of all-star brothers and the Bobcats lock-down defender.
Freshman Attackman Ethan Cuadro led the Bobcats with 33 goals and scored 62 points. Sophomore Attackman Dylan Heald was the team leader in both points with 63 and assists with 38 helpers. Both of the young Bobcats made the ECC All-Star squad. Tyler Christianson scored 27 goals and finished with 41 points and was selected an ECC All-Star Midfielder. Chris Consiglio shut down the oppositions transition game and caused several turnovers earning Defensive Short Stick Middie All-Star honors. Bacon's All-ECC Middie selections are both Juniors.
The Bobcats host the Immaculate Mustangs from Danbury in the opening round of the Class S State Tournament on June 1st. We hope to see you at the game!
